Novel Breakdown

Characters: 4/5
I loved Solomon (aka "Solo) and Vika. His brooding, sometimes animalistic behaviors, along with his occasional flashes of gentleness (mainly toward Vika), made all the foreplay, interactions and ultimate surrender very fulfilling for me.

Vika's father was well-written as the villain and several of the other secondary minions were fleshed out so that you never felt that any of the characters were "flat."

Plot: 4/5
This story reminded me a lot of the Beauty and the Beast theme with a Gena Showalter spin on it. Beauty and the Beast is one of my favorite fairy tales so anything that has that type of theme or vibe is a welcome read for me.

Flow: 4/5
I think only once or twice did I get thrown out of the flow of the story but they were only minor and did not prevent me from finishing and enjoying the story.

Believability: 4/5
Completely believable. The characters (good and the baddies) were well-rounded and made it easy to believe the relationships and personal interactions between them.

Sexual Tension: 5/5
Nail biting and at other times so sweet it hurt, but in a good way.

Romance: 4/5
Vika's innocence against Solo's experience made this romance work. Especially in the moments when he want to devour her but managed to be a good boy and take it slow.

Novel Breakdown

Characters: 4
I liked Elise and Wyatt as the main couple in this story. Each had vulnerabilities that affected their relationships with each other and their brethren. Yet, their weaknesses helped them grow as people and that made the story enjoyable.

Plot: 3
I was confused in some parts by the plot. I think this has to do with this book being number five in the series. I have not read the previous books and I feel, that if I had, some of the sections where I was lost in the plot would have been clearer.

Flow: 3
This relates in part to the plot. Anything that throws me out of the flow of reading annoys me. Again, this is partially my fault because I read this book out of order.

Believability: 4
The situations and the characters, as well as the world building, were very believable to me. I had no trouble picturing the various events in the story.

Sexual Tension: 5
The foreplay and the sex scenes were so hot, I had to walk away to cool down, come back and keep reading.

Romance: 3
Part of the reason for the score is despite the fact that the sexual tension and sex were amazing, the romance between the two was awkward in places. I am not sure if it was Wyatt's behavior or Elise's that gave off that vibe but it was there for me.

Novel Breakdown

Characters: 4
I truly enjoyed Peter and Cuke as characters. Sometimes the least complicated characters make for the best stories.

Plot: 3
The plot was very basic so there wasn't much to say about it.

Flow: 3.5
I was thrown off the flow only one time and that was toward the end. I thought it was a time continuity error but after going back and re-reading it, I realized the character was doing a flashback.

Believability: 4
I totally bought into the characters, the romance and the setting.

Sexual Tension: 3
There was just enough to tease and sate the reader without being crude or going overboard.

Romance: 5
The difference in species and communication was well done and the feelings they had for each other came through clearly.

Novel Breakdown

Characters: 4
The characters' personalities came out more which was great because you got to know them as individuals and not just the "Mad Dogs." Cothern also gave us some history/backstory which was great and allowed me to want to know about the members of the unit.

Plot: 4
I love shifters, and this time, Cothern expanded on their natures, backgrounds and introduced some more of their abilities as well.

Flow: 4
Unlike the first book, the second one flowed nicely and keeping up with the storyline, characters, etc. was easy.

Believability: 4
Cothern took everything to a new level with this second book. I was still firmly rooted in the world she created for me and I cannot wait to see what other creatures - paranormal or supernatural - she introduces in the next book.

Sexual Tension: 5
The tension was scorching and with the introduction of some kinks (spanking, submission, to name a few), I was hard pressed not to go take a cold shower myself. Man, the scenes this time around were hot enough to start a forest fire and then some.

Romance: 4
Definitely more out in the open and intriguing, especially when someone is reluctant to admit their true feelings. But is not that what makes romance fun? Learning about the other person and becoming a couple? Even the jealousy moments and the small arguments were well done amongst the various couples.

Novel Breakdown

Characters: 3.5

The characters were a very interesting lot but at the same time I got confused as to who was who. Brian, the main character was easy to tell apart from the others because of his confusion and his way of thinking. And when the group resorted to call each other by the first letter of their last names, I got completely lost in some sections.

Each character was distinct during dialogue sections but in other sections, not as much.

Plot: 4
I liked the idea of the elite of the elite being a pack of werewolves. But then again, I love shifters.

Flow: 3.5
There were a couple of times were I got lost in the scene and had to re-read to figure out where/what the characters were doing. Other than that, there were no continuity breaks that threw me out of the story.

Believability: 4
The interactions between characters read/felt like the way a group of alpha males would deal with each other. Add in the military setting and it felt real and not contrived.

Sexual Tension: 3
I wasn't fanning myself over some of the moments but there were a few that held the tension between certain characters very well.

Romance: 3
The whole "romantic" vibe is a little hard to do when werewolves are trying to create a new one. There were two moments that fell into the romantic category for me and I thought they were well done.
