This was one of my first forays into this type of fetish. I have to say it was rather interesting and the author was descriptive. The sex scenes were okay and the character development was the same.

Review [ShortRead]: Out of Time by Amelia Rohm

I received no compensation from the author or publisher for this honest review.

"After today, there will be no more construction crew rampaging through the house, no more rippling muscles and dripping sweat.  No more Paul and Dylan. This is it. If something is going to happen, it has to happen tonight. It has to happen now."

Sara's husband seems to be more interested in pleasing his clients than he is in pleasing her. So when not only one, but two, of the very large and handy construction workers currently renovating her house express an interest in her, Sara can't help but get swept up in dirty daydreams about what the three of them could get up to together.

When the renovations are complete, Sara has a brand new guest bedroom just begging to be broken in, and the two workers will be moving on to the next job unless Sara can give them a reason to stay just a little longer...

Will two men be too much for the voluptuous and neglected Sara?

And will the three of them have enough time to thoroughly find out before her husband gets home?

Out of Time is an erotic short and contains explicit erotic content intended for mature readers only.

Let me start this review by saying that I have read some of Kresley Cole's paranormal novels before. This is, however, my first time reading her contemporary stories. I was pleased with the experience and will be on the lookout for more in the series.

Now, on to my review.

All the characters (main and secondary) were well-written and helped maintain the flow and plot of the story. There were never any throw away characters that left you wondering why they were even there to begin with.

Aleksandr and Natalie were an interesting couple to read about. Natalie grew up in a wholesome, all-American kind of girl whereas Aleksandr has a dark past and a current, deadly occupation.

You would not think that the two would get along but both persons have hidden depths that constantly surprised me as I read their engrossing story.

At first, I thought that it would be your run of the mill mafia story but Ms. Cole proved me wrong in a hurry. I was glad to be wrong as this story's very believable plot and seamless flow kept me glued to my seat as I read about Aleksandr's and Natalie's journey as individuals and as a couple.

The sexual tension from the start was explosive and continued to build, explode and build again as their relationship grew and progressed. There were romantic moments which were a nice break especially after some heavy emotional moments for the two characters.

Review Format Changes

After doing reviews now for almost a year, I have decided to change the format for the I present them.

I will continue to rate the six components of the book (characters, plot, flow, believability, sexual tension, and romance), list the elements that are found in the book and give an overall rating for the book.

What I will now do is give an overall impression review so that I can more fully express my thoughts and feelings about what I have read. Included in the review will be any of my pet peeves (poor editing, too many point of view changes, etc.)

I hope this will make reading my reviews more fun and easier to understand.

The setting is current time and could definitely happen.

Review: R & R (Mad Dogs 4) by Brenda Cothern

I received no compensation from the author for this honest review.

Book 4 in the Mad Dog series.

After rescuing Markus and Brian from the clutches of the sadistic Councilwoman, Shanna Crystal, the Mad Dogs are forced on R & R. None of them are happy and none of them want or need 'rest & relaxation' but they have no choice.

The campground, Dad T's, is a gay soldier's wet dream for R & R but the Dogs barely have a chance to enjoy all it offers when everything they know about the supernaturals that inhabit the world is turned upside-down.

A leisurely run in the Ocala National Forest turns their R & R into a mission. A mission that almost takes out the Delta Unit. Permanently.

Novel Breakdown

I would like to first thank the author for allowing me to be a beta reader for this book. I absolutely love the Mad Dogs series.

Here is what I felt about the fourth book.

Characters: 4.5
The complexity of the Mad Dogs keeps growing as does their backstory. With the introduction of characters from another of Ms. Cothern's series, the hotness continues.

Plot: 5
I got my heart strings jerked around a little bit with this book. I cannot say more because that takes us into spoiler territory and I am not one to kiss and tell.

Flow: 4
Cothern's flow is spot on and always a pleasure to read.

Believability: 4.5
Nothing I can say that I have not said previously in this area.

Sexual Tension: 5
Foreplay central! And yet it didn't drive me crazy this time.

Romance: 4
This book had a little more "romance" to it which is nice because I wanted to see progression in that depart for Brian and Markus.

Review [ShortRead]: Probed by Alexis Adaire

I received no compensation from the author or publisher for this honest review.

Unimpressed and uninspired, Amy Collins was resigned to a life of dating boring men who were mediocre in the bedroom — until a chance meeting with an otherworldly being changed everything. With alpha male shapeshifter Z, Amy discovers pleasures she had never imagined she wanted, but would this visitor to Earth ultimately prove to be more man than she could handle?

Tentacle erotica and scifi erotic romance have never been this hot and slithery!

Novel Breakdown

Characters: 3
They were not flat but they were not completely three dimensional either.

Plot: 2
Basic. Alien wants to have sex with human. Human looking to get laid.

Flow: 2.5
Decent but there was some jarring in the shift of the main character's emotions and responses to things happening to her.

Believability: 2.5
Sometimes the jump from the sex into the main character's confusion/rationalizing what was happening to her was abrupt and aggravating.

Sexual Tension: 5
The build-up into the sex was really good.

Romance: 2
Not much romance going on in this short read. It really was all about a quickie that turned into some otherworldly sex.
